The common clothespin is a quick way to hold small objects, but in its normal configuration it is too large to get into small spaces and doesn’t allow access under its blunt end.
It’s a simple task to remove the spring and reverse the pieces, which makes a much smaller tip and improves the overall design. As a bonus, the tips now have flat surfaces, giving more surface area and making clamping of flat pieces much easier and more uniform.
